1 c. light. brown sugar
3 slices bread
butter to spread
3 eggs
2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In top of double boiler put brown sugar. Butter bread (I use at least 1 slice of whole wheat or oatmeal bread) and cut into cubes. Place cubes over the sugar. In a bowl beat eggs and add vanilla, milk and dash of salt. Pour over the bread and DO NOT STIR. Place double boiler over the water, cover and simmer 1 hour until custard is firm. Serve warm spooning the sauce that the brown sugar makes over the bread/custard.
Makes 4 servings.
