Sugar Cookies Recipe

¾ cups Sugar
½ cup butter (1 stick), softened
1 egg
1-½ tsp. Vanilla
1-½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. Salt
Sugar for sprinkling on top
Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into sugar mixture.
Form dough into flat disk on lightly-floured surface; wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
On lightly-floured covered board, roll out half of dough to 1/8-inch thick.
Using cookie cutters, cut out various shapes.
Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned.
Cool on rack.
