2/3 cups butter
1 ½ cups rolled oats
¾ cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
¾ cup granulated sugar
3 tbls flour
¼ tsp salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup pecans or walnuts, finely chopped

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease 2 cookie sheets.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour and salt.
Make a well in the center and add the butter, egg, and vanilla.
Mix until blended, then stir in the chopped nuts.
Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of the batter about 2 inches apart on the prepared sheets. Bake until lightly browned on the edges and bubbling, 5 to 8 minutes. Let cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a rack and cool completely.
