"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; blend. Add nuts. Drop by rounded spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 8-9 minutes (do not overbake). Cool on the pan for 1 minute, until set; remove and continue cooling on wire rack.

Personal Notes:
These will get puffy while cooking, then flatten while cooling on the cookie sheet - don't rush them.
I copied what the card says, but I must admit:
a. I don't remember who Carrie Blankenship is;
b. I never really got why some recipes say "don't overbake..." shouldn't that be a rule for all baked recipes? and c. I don't think we've ever actually made these, so the preachy part about not rushing them was extemporaneous - sorry.
