Personal Notes:
This is absolutely wonderful and it smells so good cooking! I got the original recipe from the Congressional Cookbook in 1976-The Bicentennial Year, but through the years I've just adopted it as my recipe! It's one of the Christmas Eve favorites. Serve it with little rolls and sweet and sour mustard for mini ham sandwiches! The best thing about it is that after Christmas when you've finished most of it you can toss it into a large pot or crock pot and make Senate Bean Soup! The seasonings give the soup a real kick!
