1 large loaf of French bread
8 eggs
3 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
5 granny smith apples peeled, cored and sliced
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cook in preheated 400º oven the morning after you prepare the dish.

Cut French bread into 1" thick slices arranged in a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.

Beat eggs lightly, beat in milk, a 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tbsp of vanilla. Pour only 1/2 of the mixture over the arranged french bread.

Arrange apple rings evenly over bread. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon then sprinkle evenly over apples. Dot with butter.

Bake for 55 minutes.

I wake at the crack of dawn, hit the coffe pot, get the video camera, turn on the oven, line the kids up in the hallway 'to check that Santa came', turn on the tree lights, pop French toast in oven, open our gifts while the house fills with sweet cinnamon aroma.
