1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 oz. (1/4 c.) red food coloring
2 1/2 c. cake flour
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar
White Frosting:
3 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
For cake: Heat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 9 x 13 in. pan. Beat shortening sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs and food coloring. Combine flour, cocoa, and soda in small bowl. Add alternately with buttermilk and vinegar. Pour into pan. Bake 25-35 min. or until top is brown/red.
For frosting: Cook flour and milk over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Cool completely. Beat sugar, butter and vanilla. Beat into cooled milk mixture until fluffy.
