2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 t. orange peel
1/2 t. vanilla
1 egg
4 t. milk
2 c. flour
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, orange peel, and vanilla together. Add egg, then stir in milk. Mix well. Blend dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture and stir well. Divide dough in half, make into balls and chill for 1 hour. Take out 1 ball and roll out on a floured surface. Roll to 1/8-1/4" and cut out cookies with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with sugar before baking or bake, cool and ice. Bake in a 375º for 6-8 minutes.

Sugar cookies are a must at Christmas! It's fun to decorate them with icing and sprinkles. If you don't want to go the work of icing them; you can use a glass to cut out the cookies and sprinkle sugar on top (can also use colored sugar for extra "sparkle").
