1 c. soft butter
1/3 c. whipping cream (35% butterfat)
2 c. flour

Creamy Butter Filling:
1/4 c. soft butter
3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Chill 1 hr. Roll 1/8" thick. Cut into 1 1/2" rounds. Transfer to waxed paper heavily sprinkled with sugar....turning to coat both sides. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Prick in 4 places with fork. Bake at 375º for 7-9 min. or until slightly puffy. Put 2 cooled cookies together with Creamy Butter Filling.

Butter Filling
Blend soft butter, powdered sugar,egg yolk and vanilla. If desired, tint pink or green with food coloring.

This is a very flaky cookie. Melts in your mouth. It's best to use real butter and cream for this. If you have a donut cutter, you can use the center to cut out these cookies. It's very festive to have red & green filling at Christmas.
