SIFT TOGETHER:
2 1/3 cups flour (sifted)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
¾ tsp. nutmeg
¾ tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. salt

ADD:
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup soft shortening
1 cup buttermilk
Directions:
Directions:
Beat for 2 minutes. Add 3 eggs. Beat another 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pans (2 9-inch cake pans). Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes. Cool. Finish with frosting.
