1 cup sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
2 cups flour
1/2 cup shortening (butter or margarine)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 cup golden raisins.

Combine ingredients and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour in greased & floured 9 X 5 inch loaf pan.

This cake was popular during the depression years because it did not contain eggs. Eggs were scarce.
