Ingredients:
32 ounces chick peas
1 medium red tomato
1 teaspoon coriander powder
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 tablespoon chopped ginger
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 chopped onion
4 or 5 chopped chili peppers

Chopped cilantro for garnish

Directions:
Cover chick peas in water and cook for 15 minutes on medium heat. Drain and set aside. In a sauteuse or casserole pan, warm the vegetable oil. Add the cumin seeds and stir till they turn brown. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir occasionally until the onion browns. Stir in salt, coriander powder, and curry powder. Add tomato and chili peppers. Crush about 1/2 cup of the chick peas and stir them back in with the rest of the chick peas. Add the chick peas and water to the dish and stir and cover. Cook over medium heat for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add garam masala and cilantro.

I like this dish served with steamed white rice and pita bread or paratha bread.
