Caramel Sauce
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. hot water
1/4 c. margarine
1/8 tsp. salt

Dumplings
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar in large heavy skillet with tight cover. Carmelize on medium heat to light brown. Add water, margarine and salt. Turn fire to low and simmer 10 minutes.

Mix dumpling ingredients together. Drop by teaspoons into hot syrup. Cook on low heat for 20 minutes with lid on skillet. Do NOT lift lid to check on dumplings. Remove from fire and sprinkle with nuts. Serve warm with whipped cream.

If you like sweets, you will love this recipe. The dumplings are good cold the next day (if there's any left!)
