1lb of chopped dates
1/2c. sugar
1/2lb raisins
1/4c. water
1c. sugar
1c. brown sugar
1c. shortening
3 eggs
4c. flour
1tsp. soda
1tsp. salt
1tsp. vanilla
1tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix chopped dates, raisins, sugar, water. Cook over low heat until thick, then set aside.

Mix 1c. sugar, brown sugar, shortening, egg, flour, soda, salt, vanilla, cinnamon.
Roll half of the batter out on floured board, spread half of date mix, over dough. Roll up as jelly roll. Repeat with remaining batter and date mix.
Chill in refrigerators over night. Slice and bake 350º 10-12 minutes.
