Ingredients: 3 1/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla
Frosting , sprinkles, and candies for decorating the cookies

Directions:Sift flour. baking powder, and salt onto wax paper. Beat butter with sugar until fluffy-light in a large bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture, a third at a time, blending well to make a stiff dough. Chill several hours or overnight until firm enough to roll. Roll out dough, one quarter at a time, 1/8 inch thick, on a lightly floured pastry cloth or board. Bake in a moderate oven ( 350 degrees ) for 10 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden. remove from cookie sheets to wire racks, cool completely. |

Notes: These are the best sugar cookies for cutting out and decorating. They hold their shapes great and taste good to boot. I have made these cookies since Rita was 5 years old and shared decorating them with: Patty ( who made angels in every color ), Rita, Andy, Mom, Diane, Spike, Laura, Joe, Ann, Brian, old neighbors from 5th Ave. north, Lisa, Bobby and Christoph and Lombardo cousins. And of course, Gracie, Lexi, Bruce, and in years to come, Matthew, Luke and Jack.
