40 oz. can Yams, drained and mashed
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c milk
3/4 c sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 stick real butter (or 1/4 c)

Topping:
1 c light brown sugar
1/3 c self-rising flour
1 c broken pecans
1/3 c melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl, mix yams, vanilla, milk, sugar, eggs and melted butter. Spread into 9x13 greased cass. dish. Sprinkle with topping. Bake 350º 30-35 min.
If you need it to go a little further, add a 14-15 oz can yams (drained) will serve more people.

This is the perfect dish to make a couple of days ahead. I make the topping several days in advance(easier to crumble over top) This is Mama's (Aunt Mary Lou's) favorite. I have been making this every Thanksgiving and Christmas for 29 years. Stays hot for a long time with foil cover.
