1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butterscotch bits
1 c. golden raisins

FROSTING:
6 T. butter
8 tsp. milk
1 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
2 c. confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream shortening and sugar. Add pumpkin and egg. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Mix flour mixture into the creamed mixture. Stir in butterscotch bits and raisins. Spoon onto ungreased cookie sheets (about a large tablespoon size) and bake 10 - 12 minutes. Makes 4-5 dozen.

For frosting: Combine butter, milk and brown sugar in a saucepan and cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly. Cool slightly, stir in confectioners sugar and vanilla. Frost cookies while they're hot.
