2 tablespoons shortening
1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped fine (can substitute onion flakes)
1 sixteen-ounce can tomato sauce
1 sixteen-ounce can chili beans with liquid
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder.

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and add meat, breaking it apart and searing until browned. Add onion, tomato sauce, chili beans with liquid, salt & chili powder. Simmer for about 1 hour or cook in crock pot. Can be cooked in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes. Recipe can be doubled for 6-8 servings.

Serve with crackers and a little grated cheddar cheese on top. Great on those cold winter nights.
