3 (2.05 oz) Milky Way candy bars,
2 Tbsp. + 1 1/4 cups milk,
2 cups flour,
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder,
1 Tbsp. baking powder,
1/2 tsp baking soda,
1/4 tsp. salt,
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened,
1 cup sugar,
1/2 cup brown sugar,
1/2 tsp. vanilla,
2 large eggs.
FROSTING
50 carmels, wrappers removed,
1/2 cup milk,
1 cup unsalted butter, softened,
5 cups powdered sugar,
1/2 tsp. vanilla.
GARNISH Milky Way candy bars sliced.

CAKE
Preheat oven to 350º. Butter 2 (9 inch) round cake pans; line bottoms with parchment paper; butter paper. Lightly flour pans, tapping out excess. In small sauce pan, melt candy bars and 2 Tbsp milk over medium-low heat 10 min. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat; let cool 10 min. In bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder,soda and salt. In large mixer bowl, beat butter sugar, brown sugar and vanilla on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating 30 seconds and scraping bowl. Beat in melted candy mixture. On low speed, beat in half the flour mixture and 3/4 cup milk, scraping down side of bowl. Beat in remaining flour mixture and milk. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 38 to 41 min, until toothpick inserted into center of cakes comes out clean. Let cool in pans 10 min. Invert onto racks; let cool completely.
FROSTING
In medium saucepan, melt carmels over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 15 min. Whisk in milk until smooth. Remove from heat; let cool to room temperature, 1 hour.
In large bowl, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until blended. On medium-high, beat 3 min. Beat in carmel mixture and beat 2 min. more, until light and fluffy.
Place one cake layer on platter; spread top with one third of frosting. Place remaining layer on top; cover cake with remaining frosting. Garnish if desired
