2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/3 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:

Preheat oven 350º

1. Melt over low heat or microwave chocolate and shortening.
2. When pan is cool to touch add eggs one at time beating them throughly in .
3. Add in dry ingredients.
4. Add chopped nuts if desired
5. Pour into an 8 inch square pan and bake until toothpick comes out clean. About 20 minutes.

Mom's old recipe. It can be doubled or tripled without altering the results of this recipe. Over the years I have added chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, peppermint crushed candies and red hots for a different taste. It is also good with a drizzle of a frosting on them or just dust with powder sugar.
