2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
½ teaspoon salt (or ¼ teaspoon)
2 sticks butter or margarine
1 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
2 well-beaten eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Icing
1 stick butter or margarine
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 pound confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

½ cup chopped nutmeats (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, measure and resift with sugar and salt. In a pan, put butter or margarine, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour and sugar. In another bowl, beat eggs, add baking soda, buttermilk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add to above mixture, mix well. Bake in greased and floured shallow cookie sheet such as a jelly roll pan (15 ½ by 10 ½)
Bake 20 minutes, 350º.

Start icing 5 to 10 minutes before cake is done.
Mix butter or margarine, cocoa, and milk in saucepan. Heat over low heat, but do not boil. Remove from heat, add sugar and vanilla and mix well. Frost cake as soon as removed from oven. If desired, sprinkle ground nutmeats over top of cake before cooled. Cool before cutting.
