Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 can mandarin oranges--drained
1 peg. orange jello
1 1/4 cups hot water
1 pint vanilla ice cream
PIE SHELL INGREDIENTS
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 pie plate

Directions:
Directions:
Drain oranges and save the liquid. Heat the juice from the oranges with the water. Dissolve the jello in the liquid, set aside. Place ice the cream in a bowl and pour the hot jello mixture over the ice cream. Stir to dissolve the cream. Add oranges and let cool. PREPARE THE PIE SHELL: Mix together butter, sugar, flour and nuts. Spread thinly over 13"x 9"x2" pan. Bake in a preheated 400º oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and with a fork break up the cookie into fine crumbs. Press the crumbs into a pie pan covering the sides and bottom. Let cool in the refrigerator. (Making the pie shell may be prepared first before preparing the filling) When the jello mixture begins to set, pour it into the crust. The time schedule for combining the pie filling into the crust is tricky. The pie shell must be cool and filling (ice cream mixture) must not be completely set. Mandarin Oranges may be added to filling or used to decorate the top of the pie.
