With an electric mixer set at medium speed, beat 4 egg whites with a pinch of salt until they hold soft peaks.

Then beat at high speed, gradually adding 3/4 c. sugar. Beat until whites are stiff and glossy.

Spread meringue over filling, making sure it touches the pastry all around. Swirl top with the back of a spoon. Bake in 350 oven until golden brown.
