1 institutional can (6 lb 10 oz) S & W crushed tomatoes in thick, rich puree
1 institutional can (6 lb 10 oz) S & W tomato sauce homestyle recipe
18 cloves garlic, chopped or crushed
3 onions, chopped
5 lb ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage
2T dry oregano leaves
1T dry basil
2 lb mushrooms, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground beef and Italian sausage; drain. Put all ingredients into a large pot. Simmer gently, stirring enough to keep it from scorching. Cook several hours until sauce tastes good and thickens slightly. Correct salt and pepper.
