3 eggs
3/4 c. milk
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. vanilla extract
3 T. butter
8 slices Italian bread

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 250. Beat the eggs, milk, nutmeg and vanilla. In a large frying pan, melt 1-1/2 T. of the butter over medium-high heat. Dip half of the bread slices in the egg mixture and let the excess drip off. Fry the bread in the hot butter until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes in all. Transfer to a heat proof platter and put in the oven to keep warm. Melt the remaining 1-1/2 T. butter in the pan and dip and fry the remaining bread.
