1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. double acting baking powder
1-1/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. oil (or) 1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water
4 T. unsweetened cocoa

ICING:
1 stick oleo or butter (softened)
4 T. unsweetened cocoa
6 T. milk
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Step 1:
Mix in mixing bowl the flour, sugar, soda, and baking powder. After mixing, make a nest in center of dry ingredients.

Step 2:
Heat water and 1/2 c. cocoa to boiling. Remove from heat and immediately pour into dry ingredients nest and stir well. (No beating is necessary).

Step 3:
Add oil (or shortening), vanilla, and eggs. Stir well.

Step 4: Pour into greased 9 X 13 inch pan. (Batter will be slightly runny). Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

ICING:
Mix butter, 4 T. cocoa, and milk in sauce pan and bring to boil. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and nuts. Spread over cooled cake.

This cake is also good without the icing and use butter instead.
