2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 t. baking powder
1 t. soda
1 t. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. banana (or 3 bananas)
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk (or sour milk)
2/3 c. chopped nuts.

Caramel Frosting:
1/2 c. brown sugar
6 Tbs. margarine (melted)
1/3 c. milk
1/2 t. vanilla
pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Sift (or) mix the dry ingredients together. Soften shortening & add the mashed bananas and eggs. Add alternating a small portion of dry ingredients and buttermilk until all mixed. Add chopped nuts. Pour into a greased & floured pan. Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes.

For Frosting:
Mix together in pan all the frosting ingredients.
boil for 2 min. Remove from heat and add :
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
Beat well spread on cooled cake. Can add 1/2 c. nuts if desired.
