5 cups of Granny Smith Apples
5 Tbsps butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp apple pie spice
2 cups hot water
Dash of salt
Grated zest of 1 lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Wash, core seed, but do not peel the apples and slice them in rounds. Melt the butter in a large skillet. Blend in the sugars and apple pie spice. Stir in the hot water to make a syrup. Reduce the heat and add the sliced apples and salt. Cook, covered until the apples are soft, then stir in the lemon zest. Cook 5 minutes longer and serve.
