2 cups cubed apples, centers removed and unpeeled
1/4 cup well-packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar or water
1/1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed (optional)

Heat drippings in skillet or heavy pan. Add remaining ingredients and dash pepper. Cover tightly; cook over low heat, 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
