2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup water
2 sticks oleo
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1/2 cup buttermilk (or 1 Tbsp. vinegar mixed with milk)

1 1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or oleo
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup chocolate chips

Mix sugar and flour and set aside. Mix water, oleo, and cocoa, and bring to a boil. Pour hot over sugar and flour mixture. Mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla. This batter is very thin. May not bake smooth -- has lumps in the middle. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 minutes. Cool.
Combine ingredients for frosting, and cook for 1 minute. Add chocolate chips. Mix until smooth. Spread on cake.
