6 medium (tart) apples, peeled and cut into eighths.
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix apple slices with sugar, cinnamon and water in saucepan. Cook about 10 minutes or until apples are partially cooked. Turn into 9 inch pie plate.

Melt butter over low heat, gradually add brown sugar. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly with a spoon. Sprinkle mixture over the apples.

Bake at 350º until apples are tender and top is nicely browned, about 45 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
