2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup room temp butter
1 cup C&H Brown Sugar
1 cup C&H Granulated Sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
3 cups Pillsbury flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 12oz bag of chocolate chips
Optional:1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Mix in half the flour, the salt and baking soda into the creamed mixture.
Add the remaining flour and mix in well. Finally stir in the chocolate chips and if you choose,
the pecan or walnuts.

Scoop dough by the rounded Tablespoonfuls onto "light" metal cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake in pre-heated oven for 8 - 10 minutes.
Before removing from pan let sit for about a minute so that the cookie won't smoosh or squish up, etc.
