1 package dates, cut up, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 Tbs melted butter, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 2 tsp. baking soda, 1 egg, 1 1/2 c. boiling water, 1c. chopped nuts, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 3/4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, butter and egg and beat well. Soak dates in 1 c. boiling water about an hour. Dissolve soda in 1/2 c. boiling water and add to sugar and egg mixture. Add flour, salt, baking powder, nuts and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350º.
