1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups butter
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1 Tbs. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, butter, flour, soda and salt. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Beat eggs; add last. Wrap in wax paper and chill 1 hour.
Roll out on floured surface 1/4 inch thick. Cut out desired shapes. Cook on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes.
Remove immediately to rack to cool. Frost if desired.

Frosting:

2Tbs. butter soft
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
1-2 Tbs. milk to make spreadable.
Beat with electric mixer.
