4 c flour
3 Tbsp. Baking Powder
1 Tbsp. Shortening
2 Tbsp Non Fat Dry Milk
2 tsp. salt
2 c Warm Water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together, mix in shortening. Gradually add water, mix and knead till soft enough to handle. Let sit and rise an hour.

Shape into golf size balls, pat each ball to 1/4 in thick, poke hole in center and drop into fat 1 in deep. Cook till lightly browned.

I remember my mom and sister in law Lani making Indian Frye bread and then we would eat it warm with melted butter on it...My mom may have gotten this recipe from Lani who got it from the locals at Kaneeta Indian reservation.
