1/4 cup poppy seeds
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 T. cinnamon
4 eggs separated2 1/2 cups flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Soak poppy seeds 10 minutes in buttermilk.
Cream 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter. Add egg yolks. Sift flour and soda. Add creamed mixture and vanilla. Beat egg whites until still and fold into mixture. Add buttermilk and poppy seeds. Mix until well blended.
Pour 1/3 batter into a greased 10" tube pan. Do not flour the pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cinnamon sugar mixture. repeat with 2nd layer. Add remaining batter.
Bake at 350º for 1 hour.
