1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts (if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the sugars, shortening and peanut butter. Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts. Form into balls and place on cookie sheets. Flatten with a fork. Bake in 375 degree oven about 8 minutes.

This is a recipe from my sister-in-law, Thora Reisetter. It was included in the American Legion Auxiliary Cookbook that was published in 1950 in Ellsworth, Iowa.
