1 cup shortening (part butter)
2 cups light brown sugar (firmly packed)
2 eggs beaten lightly
Salt (scant)
3 1/2 cups flour
1 level teaspoon baking soda sifted with flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup nutmeats, finely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients in order except nutmeats. Stir night before with electric beater or well by hand. Add nutmeats. Make a rectagular block of dough. Refrigerate. Slice thin and bake at 350º until lightly brown.
