1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas (4-6)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 c. bran flakes
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. broken nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in bananas, eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk. Fold in nuts. Fill greased loaf pans 2/3 full and bake in 350º oven 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until tests done with tooth pick.
