1/3 c. light corn syrup
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 t. peppermint extract
1/2 t. salt
1 lb. sifted powdered sugar
1 drop each red and green food coloring
RECIPE #2:
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 t. peppermint extract
2-2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
food coloring

RECIPE #1: Blend corn syrup, butter, peppermint and salt. Add sugar; mix until smooth. Divide into thirds; knead red food coloring into one third and green food coloring into another third. Shape into small balls; flatten with fork on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Let dry. Yield: 72. RECIPE #2: Mix cream cheese with peppermint extract. Gradually add in powdered sugar and knead until no longer sticky. Divide into 4 portions and knead in food coloring of your choice. Shape into 3/4 inch balls, roll in powdered sugar and flatten with a fork. Let dry at room temperature, then store loosely covered in refrigerator. Yield: 6 dozen.
