Cake:
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 T. vinegar
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 T. vanilla
2 T. cocoa
1/4 c. red food coloring

7 Minute Frosting:
2 egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 t. salt
5 T. water
1 1/2 t. corn syrup
1 1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix Crisco and sugar. Add eggs. Mix in buttermilk and vinegar and set aside. Mix flour, baking soda, salt, vanilla, cocoa and food coloring and set aside. Combine all ingredients and pour in three greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

7 Minute Frosting:
Combine all ingredients in a double boiler and cook for seven minutes, beating with a mixer constantly. Remove and add vanilla. Beat one more minute.
