"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

2 C Kelloggs Bran Buds
2 C boiling water
2 1/2 C sugar
1 C vegetable oil
1 qt buttermilk
4 eggs
1 box raisins
5 C flour
1 tsp salt
5 tsp baking soda
4 C Kelloggs All Bran

Mix Bran Buds and boiling water and set aside. Cream oil and sugar. Add cereal and water mixture, eggs, buttermilk, All Bran and raisins. I use 1 C of the 5 C of flour to mix with the raisins and put through a food mill.
Sift flour, soda and salt and add to mixture. DO NOT OVERMIX. Put in covered containers, leaving a 2" head space at top of containers. Should refrigerate overnight before using.
Will keep in refrigerator 4-5 weeks.
To bake, grease muffin tin, fill 2/3 full, bake at 375 for 15-20 min.
