How do the Mamaw and Papaw of so many, many children have the ability to make one feel so special?

Just a few ideas...

Always an open door
Tomato Macaroni
Big hugs
Special barn adventures
Long walks
Your "own" room
A special song for bedtime - "Beautiful Dreamer"
A dollar for ice cream to heal a sad goodbye
An arranged church performance
A special bingo game
Milking cows and churning butter
Girl scout badges
Sewing lessons
Peppermint sticks
A "special" ride in the truck
Field trips to the basement
Fishing
Raggedy Ann
College quilts
Gathering feathers
Freedom to run and play

These were just a few of the things that I valued as a child. Although, I do believe the most treasured things I received from Mamaw & Papaw are the unspoken ones. Many were not realized until I had a husband and children of my own.

A promise made is a promise kept
Early to bed... Early to rise
The importance of education
Forgive and forget
Teamwork
Always help a friend in need
Church every Sunday
Live within your means
Eat together
Pray together
Have fun together
Work hard
Complain little
Love much
