1 C brown sugar
1 C water
1 C raisins
1/3 C shortening
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ tsp cloves
Boil above ingredients together for 3 minutes. Cool, then add:
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 C flour, sifted

Mix all together, then add 1 C nuts.
Bake in greased loaf pan for 1 hour, at 350º.
