1 c, dates, cut up,
1 c. boiling water,
1 Tbs. butter, rounded,
1 tsp. baking soda,
3/4 c. sugar,
1 egg, beaten,
2 c. flour,
1 tsp. baking powder,
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first four ingredients in small bowl, cover and cool. When cool add sugar and egg. Mix dry ingredients and add slowly, mixing. Add one cup nuts if desired. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350º for 45 minutes. Cool on wire rack in pan.
