Personal Notes:
make several batches of different colors, or keep out the food coloring, mixing all the other ingredients BEFORE applying heat, and divide up the batter. Cook each portion separately, adding a color to each. This gives you about 3 small batches, enough for up to 3 smaller children at a time.
