1 cup flour
1 t. cream of tartar
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
3 T. butter
1/4 cup raisins
2 T. sugar
about 1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. With fingertips, rub in the butter. Add sugar and raisins. Using a knife, mix to a soft dough adding just enough milk so the dough holds together. Turn onto a floured board and knead lightly. Roll out to `1/2" thick and cut into 2" rounds. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops with milk or egg and bake 10-15 minutes at 400°F. Cool on wire racks.

For variety add 1/4 cup any dried fruit.
