2 lbs. fresh string beans
Medium-hot olive or vegetable oil
2 cloves diced garlic
1 can chicken broth
1 can drained sliced water chestnuts
About 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
Garlic salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Wash and snap off ends of green beans. Heat about ¼ cup of olive oil in 10” frying/sauté pan. Add beans and garlic, sprinkle in garlic salt. Using tongs, keep turning beans until they are medium tender and a little browned. Add chicken broth, soy sauce, water chestnuts, black pepper and more garlic salt to taste. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover and let cook for about 15 minutes. The beans should be medium crisp. If you like them tender, simmer longer.
