1 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups vanilla (white) chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Beat sugars, butter and shortening together. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Stir in chips and nuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
