In heavy saucepan, combine:
½ butter
¾ cup whipping cream
2 cups sugar

Bring to full boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium and continue to boil, stirring frequently, 8 to 10 minutes, or until mixture reaches soft ball stage (234 degrees).

Remove from heat; add:
12 oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 jar marshmallow crème (7 oz.)

Stir until smooth.

Add: 1 cup chopped slivered almonds
1 cup chopped dried cherries
1 tsp. almond extract
Mix until well blended.

Directions:

Pour mixture into 9-inch square pan lined with buttered foil. Refrigerate until cool. Cut into 1-1/2 inch squares. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
